ABOUT ME AND MY DOGS

AKC only

We breed only AKC-Registered Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers.  My husband and I are home nearly all of the time.  We have six wonderful grandchildren and a new great granddaughter.  Our dogs come from good stock and are very healthy, loving and friendly.  They live in our home and are part of our family.   Each of our dogs gets and gives a lot of love.  The pups are whelped and cared for in our home.  We love, cuddle and massage all of the pups several times daily from birth which contributes to their being people-friendly and loving when they go home with their new family.  I take this business very seriously and love each of our dogs and all the pups.  I am a woman of faith and I try to do everything in my little business as the Lord would desire.  My husband and I are both retired.  We shared our first kiss back in 1954 at the age of 12 behind the furnace at a party.  Back then they told us it was “Puppy Love” but he is still the love of my life and my very best friend.

I started raising the pups as a way of helping our grandson go to college.  He would not be able to attend college without our help.  He lives with us when he is not at school.  He just started his third year at Sam Houston State University.  He is on the Dean’s List and is majoring in biology.  He wants to go the medical school when he gets his Biology Degree from Sam Houston.  He works all summer and saves every cent toward his education.  On his days off in the summer, he volunteers at the hospital in Huntsville, Texas, where his school is located.  His dream is to be a physician. He is taking 18 hours this semester and is a very busy young man, still volunteering at the hospital on Saturdays.  He does his part and we do everything we can to help him achieve his goals.  We want him to get the education he so richly deserves and he appreciates what we do for him.

I hate to see folks selling pups in parking lots and along the roadside.  Some of those pups are bought on impulse and then a few months later the pup ends up deserted somewhere or is taken to the pound.  I do not want that to happen to any of our pups.  I want everyone who buys a pup from me to have done their research and thought about the responsibility of taking a living creature into their home.  I want my buyers to feel committed to that pup for the rest of its life.  I love these little dolls and want them in good loving homes.  Wheatens give so much love and it is so easy to love them right back.  There have been instances where I have been unwilling to sell a pup to some individuals.

I love having a pup go to a home with children.  It is a wonderful experience to grow up with a dog.  As a very young child, my uncle’s dog had pups.  The pups were a Shepherd/Chow mix.  He said it was not good luck to have a dog given to you and he made me pay him a quarter for the dog.  I thought the dog was a Shepherd/Child mix and that is what I told people when they asked.  I named him “Poochie” (quite original isn’t it?) and loved him dearly.  I thought he went pee through his belly button.  (I told you I was a very young child and didn’t know any better.)  I have loved many dogs during my 67 years.  My vet has a sign in his office that reads “When you go to heaven, all the dogs you ever loved come to meet you.”  I love that thought!!!!!

We give our dogs and pups plenty of love, a well-balanced diet and the best in veterinary care.  All of our pups are vet checked, had their tails docked, dewclaws removed, and are current on their shots and worming.  Each pup is registered with the AKC.   All of our pups are healthy, happy and well socialized.  We give each buyer an application for an open unrestricted AKC registration where they can breed the dog and register the pups if they choose to do so – we don’t keep them from breeding like some breeders do.
